Our field trip to the EJ Memorial Skating Center!

Our local Police Department loves us! Thank you Ms. Peterkin and students, and all of our residents and community members for supporting law enforcement and the #YonkersPD! Many thanks to Samantha Peterkin and the students of the Greenburgh Academy for their very thoughtful wreath donations to the 4th Precinct today. Ms. Peterkin and the Academy have been very generous friends of the 4th Precinct for several years now, in her own words: "I started this tradition of gifting your precinct with a wreath, as a homage to my late father, who himself was a police officer. It is my ongoing goal to demonstrate this kind gesture because I recognize the need for good relationships in at times a very polarizing world..."

Our students gifted two wreaths to the officers from the 4th precinct. The wreaths were donated by Mrs. Miles, and her husband. Lieutenant Patrick G. Curtis, who is new to the 4th precinct, expressed gratitude. This is an annual tradition here at GA. Thank you Mrs. Miles--and to all Happy holidays. Sam Peterkin

Ms. Assa's culinary math class is excelling.

Ms. Muller’s biology class made gingerbread plant cell models!

Ms. Brittany snapped these photos of our chicks, WOW, they are no longer chicks but they are now young CHICKENS.

This is one of GA's Science and Art department collaborations!!! Students worked on creating plant and animal cells models. While learning about the different parts of the cells, students also gained an understanding of sculpture, shape , and color. Special thanks to Ms. Batista, Ms. Mead, Ms. Payton, and Ms. Richardson.

Ms. Batista's science class is completing the second half of their cell project! Students here are labeling the organelles of the cell.

Good Afternoon! Our students participated in Ridge Hill's Branches of Joy tree decorating competition this morning. They all did a beautiful job, and had a nice visit with Santa Claus as well. Thank you MS. GRAVES for co-chaperoning, and MS. ALLEN for being our gracious chauffeur. I also want to thank Mr. Voron & Mr. Samet for supporting our endeavor. Some photos are attached. Happy Holidays! Sincerely, Ms. Nagorny

Special thanks to Ms. Brown and the clinical team picking up turkeys at Stew Leonard's for any students who might need 'em!

Ms. Miles' 4th period Forensics class is working on frog autopsies!

In addition to our hermit crab, tadpoles, and chicks, we now have amazing baby turtles in the Science room. Thanks to Mr. Crews for his donation. P.S. Our chicks are getting BIG!

Greenburgh Academy came together to walk for Breast Cancer Awareness and it was a heartwarming event! Cupcakes and pink lemonade with fresh mint and lemon were for sale, as well as special face-masks. Special thanks to Ms. Peterkin, Mr. Crews and Ms. Payton for organizing!

From daunting to dynamite. Students have done an excellent job so far in collaborating in the construction of a 2021-2022 simulated paradise for dream-like macro photography, stop motion, claymation, special effects and 3D printing. Students have divided up roles and they can't wait to add the finishing touches and bring in their own objects for photography!

We welcome Ms. Owens to Greenburgh Academy this 2021-2022 school year! She has worked in our district for many years and we are glad to have her in our building (again) in a different room this time! She is a wonderful addition to the community! Please note: the mask was removed for a quick photo only.

WALKING FOR A CAUSE!!!
We are walking for a cause at Greenburgh Academy! Please sign up with Ms. Payton if you would like to walk for breast cancer awareness. We will be walking on Monday, November 15th during 7th period. The walk will be lead by Mr. Crews and Mrs. Peterkin. Donations of $1 per block are being asked for to support the cause. Teachers can sponsor a student and donate $1 per block for them! A total of 6 blocks will be walked which means $6 per student for the full walk. Please give all donations to Mr. Crews or Mrs. Peterkin. PLEASE all staff and students WEAR PINK in observation of the day.

We had a blast for Fall Fest today! There were food items on the grill, student-made baked goods, pretzels, pink lemonade, popcorn, gourds, flag football and other games. Here are some photos in review of our spirit week. Thanks to everyone who made it possible!

Photography students in Ms. Binns' class are creating a miniature landscape for diorama photography in the photo studio. It will be portable and be able to be moved outdoors in natural lighting as well!

Ms. Mead's class' mural looks great in the art wing, right next to our new school monitor Mr. Johnson's post!
