Dear Families and Friends,
Friends, neighbors, fellow advocates for our wonderful students at Kaplan Career Academy, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Geneen Seal, and I've had the privilege of serving as the current president of our school's SEPTSA – the Special Education Parent Teacher Student Association. Establishing this organization last year was a direct response to the heartfelt requests from your children. They expressed a desire for more activities and experiences similar to what they might have in their home districts. They wanted the opportunity to raise funds for these goals and to have a stronger voice, alongside their families and friends, in advocating for their needs. I was deeply moved by their aspirations and wanted to help make them a reality. Unfortunately, our SEPTSA has seen limited family involvement this past year. My hope for next year is that we can build greater parent support, including parents taking on leadership roles within our unit. It's my strong commitment to your children that brings me to you today with a sincere request: please consider running for a PTA officer position. My term ends this year and I am unable to run again. This is your chance! Your involvement can make a real difference in helping their dreams take flight.
Our PTA is the vital heartbeat of our school community, the bridge that connects our homes with your children's educational world. It's where our collective voices can shape policies, support vital programs, and create an even richer and more nurturing environment for every single student. But the strength of our PTA lies in the active participation of families and friends like you.
Perhaps you've thought about getting more involved but felt overwhelmed by the time commitment. I want to assure you that outside of the events and activities, EVERYTHING IS DONE ONLINE! Minimum of one ONLINE meeting per month. One hour from the comfort of your own space to lend your valuable perspective and help shape a better school environment. Plus, you'd have the chance to connect with a passionate team of fellow officers, sharing ideas and collaborating on exciting initiatives that directly benefit our kids. Imagine the impact we could have, working together in a way that truly fits into your busy life. This isn't a huge time sink; it's a powerful opportunity to be a vital part of something truly meaningful.
Furthermore, I want to emphasize that you will not be embarking on this journey alone. Our dedicated school administration and staff are committed to providing their full support. They recognize the vital role the PTA plays and are eager to collaborate with enthusiastic family leaders. This partnership ensures that our efforts are aligned with the school's goals, that our initiatives are effective, and that you have the resources you need to make a real difference.
This isn't about lengthy commitments or daunting responsibilities. It's about stepping up, offering your unique talents, and becoming a powerful voice for your child and all the children in our school. It's about investing a small amount of your time for an immeasurable return in the lives of our students.
