The students at Greenburgh Academy are afforded the unique opportunity to participate in Canine Integrated Therapy made available by the company, Giving Retriever, LLC. In small carefully curated groups, students are able to partake in a program that uses dog training as a means of facilitating goal-based treatment interventions for our high school students who are experiencing social, emotional, cognitive, and communicative functioning challenges. Our students have the opportunity to strengthen many skills related to emotional regulation, frustration tolerance, communication, problem solving, and social relationship building. At Greenburgh Academy, therapy sessions are facilitated by licensed clinical social worker and canine-integrated therapy provider, Judy Halden, and her beloved canine companion, Simon. It's always a great day when Judy and Simon visit for both staff and students!
