This past summer and this early fall, students assisted Ms. Russell in setting up a campus garden that featured some amazing and delicious fruits and vegetables. Students put in some hard work on all school days, rain or shine! Students had the opportunity to work with their hands, partake in some light physical activity, and use their artistic creativity while completing this project.
Later in the summer and earlier this fall, students were able to harvest some fruit and vegetables from the garden and enjoy them in a few meals. Some of the fruits and vegetables were quite large and comparable to what you would find in a grocery store, which emphasized to students that it is possible to grow their own food with the right knowledge, time, and resources.
This project will be ongoing as the seasons change so stay tuned for more updates!
