Superintendent's Message

Greenburgh-North Castle UFSD Superintendent’s Conference Day

Dear GNC Staff,

It is hard to believe the end of summer is upon us and a new school year is about to begin.  I sincerely hope each and every one of you found time to enjoy the beautiful summer days with family and friends.

We will hold our first Superintendent’s Conference Day in the gymnasium at the Dr. Kenneth B. Clark Academy located at 71 S. Broadway Dobbs Ferry, New York 10522. Start time is 8:00 AM.  A continental breakfast will be served.

It will be a busy day beginning with new staff introductions, followed by an address by Dr. Robert Maher, our School Board President. John Marino, our Director of Finance, will provide an update on the finances of the district, adhering to our commitment to financial transparency. I will share my tripartite vision for our district that includes special education instruction, a therapeutic milieu, and meaningful transitional experiences. Dr. Robin Levine, our Director of Pupil Personnel, will discuss therapeutic components of our programs.  Michael Voron, our new Director of Transition Services, will share exciting transitional opportunities for our students. Dr. David Fine, our Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction/Clark Academy Principal, will provide an update on educational initiatives throughout the district. There will be an hour break for lunch.  State-mandated professional development will follow lunch. The remainder of the afternoon will be a Union meeting, run by your President and executive board. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, SCD will be held in your assigned school.

I hope you are as optimistic as I am about working collaboratively to provide our students with an optimal learning environment.

Warmest regards,

Carolyn McGuffog, Ph.D., Ed.D.

Superintendent GNC

P.S. Updated information regarding parking for the day at KCA will follow.
